Oahu | Personal
The beginning of this month my parents, siblings, their spouses and kids all went to Honolulu, Oahu for a week. I have to admit I didn’t pick up my camera a whole bunch. But, it did get used from time to time It was good to spend time with everyone and have some new memories of us all together. With all of us spread out across western Canada it doesn’t seem very often where we are all under the same roof. Besides a little mini session for my brother’s family, I really enjoyed taking a more photojournalistic approach to vacation. And as always these were some of my very favourite moments. The one at the end of this first batch of photos of my sister and her son is one of my very favourite photos. So here is a little glimpse into my week away on the beach!
You may want to skip this next part as there is a lot of photos of the ocean. It’s so hard to choose which ones to show because I do love the ocean. I feel the same peace at the ocean as I do in standing in the middle of the Saskatchewan prairies. Both landscapes are places that just sing to my soul. If only I could find a way to take the ocean and bring it to Saskatchewan….. but then it wouldn’t be Saskatchewan. I’m not fan of mountains or desert but put me in prairies or by the ocean and I’m content.
I have a ton (okay maybe not literally a ton! but hundreds) of photos of the ocean. Especially the north shore where the waves were just amazing. I think I become enthralled with it for the same reasons I do in a thunderstorm. A reminder that we are not in control of many things, and that there is beauty in that.
That is it for the Hawaii vacay I hope you enjoyed it, soon I’ll be going back to the regularly scheduled program of photo sessions!
